Developed by John Moses Browning for the new (at the time) Colt model 1903 this cartridge has stood the test of time. Not only has this cartridge been a premier self defense choice for over 115 years but it also saw adoption by a number of European militaries. It was the standard issue handgun round for Czechoslovakia, Yugoslavia, Italy, the Netherlands and Hungary until the end of WW2. it also saw widespread use in the German army with captured and purchased models. One of its most famous uses was in the iconic Walther PPK.
