45 auto rim also known as 11.5x23mmR was designed in 1920 for use in revolvers that were originally chambered for 45 ACP. Using this instead of 45 ACP removed the need for half moon clips or manual extraction. It also prevented jams caused by rounds sliding forward in the cylinder. Though it did catch on initially due to the extreme excess of M1917 revolvers after WWI this cartridge is rather obscure by today's standards. Includes key ring.
